Word was received here yesterday of the death on Monday last at Port Townsend, Wash of Mrs. Maria H. Wood, the widow of the late Rev. Aaron Wood, DD both of whom for many years were identified with Indiana Methodism.  Mrs. WOod was in her 93rd year, having been born in November 1807 (sic - does not agree what is on findagrave but FAG had no proof - this is proof).  She was a woman of great strength of character, who devoted much of her religious energy in her long and useful career in Indiana to the missionary cause. Two of her children, Rev. Thomas Wood and Rev. Joseph Wood went to SOuth America as missionaries and Mrs. Wood herself after she was 80 years old went to South America and spent a number of years with one of the sons in this mission work. The later years of her life have been spent with a nephew, Mr. Jesse M. Hitt in Port TOwnsend, Wash at whose home she died. Her remains have been brought to Lafayette Ind and will be buried there today at 2 p.m. beside the body of her husband. Besides the two sons above mentioned, another son, Dr. John WOod of Chama, New Mexico survives his mother. - kz
